Teenager Tom loves to practice piano with Dad while his brother finishes a simple jigsaw and grandma enjoys lucid moments of reminiscence. But after Marty walks into traffic and social services pay a visit, Dad’s ever-loving mood sours. He meets a brooding stranger and vanishes, leaving the Catholic Church to raise his boys. Tom must wait for adulthood to undertake an odyssey across the Bible belt in search of Dad. A trail of letters from the grave leads him to an exhumation, stories of abuse and a dead body.
